|2TEMPO COMMAND
|0To change the |2TEMPO|0, or speed of the music, within a musical piece,
use the |2T |0command followed by a numerical representation of the
speed you desire. Examples :
|2Tempo 120 |0= |2T120
Tempo 255 |0= |2T255
Tempo 32 |0= |2T32
|0The valid range for this command is any number from |232 |0to |2255, |0with
|2120 |0being the default if no tempo is specified. Anything larger or
smaller than the valid range will be interpreted as the default.

|2LENGTH COMMAND
|0To change the |2GLOBAL |0note length (the note length that affects all
notes not immediately followed by a temporary note length) within a
musical piece, use the |2L |0 command followed by the number representing
the note length of 1 divided by the length you enter (1/Leng).
Examples :
|2Length 1/4 |0= |2L4
|2Length 1 |0= |2L1
|2Length 1/64 |0= |2L64
|0The valid ANSI range is any number from |21 |0to |264|0, but for musical
reasons, Melody Maker will only support these values :
|21, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64|0.
|0Any unsupported or out-of-range value defaults to |24|0.

|2OCTAVE COMMAND
|0To change the |2OCTAVE |0in a musical piece, use the |2O |0command
followed by the number representing the octave you wish to play notes
from. Examples :
|2Octave 3 |0= |2 O3
|2Octave 0 |0= |2 O0
|2Octave 6 |0= |2 O6
|0The valid range of this command is any number from |20 |0to |26|0,
with |23 |0being the default in case of an out-of-range or
unspecified octave.

|2MUSIC TYPE
|0To change the |2MUSIC TYPE|0, which is what partially determines the
length of each note, use the |2M |0 command, followed by one of the
following three parameters. Examples :
|2Music Legato |0= |2ML |0(Notes are run into each other)
|2Music Normal |0= |2MN |0(There is a brief pause between notes)
|2Music Staccato |0= |2MS |0(Notes are choppy and short)
|0Valid parameters are |2N|0,|2L|0,|2S|0. The default is |2N |0 if no music type
is defined.

|2NOTES
|0The valid notes to play sounds are |2A,B,C,D,E,F,G |0 of the current
octave. These notes may be modified by the following extras :
|2+|0,|2# |0= |2Make the note a sharp.
|2- |0= |2Make the note a flat.
|2. |0= |2Extend the note length by 1/2 (Length + 1/2).
|0In addition, notes can be modified by a temporary note length. This
length will not affect any note but the one being modified. This
parameter follows the rules of the |2L |0 command. Example :
|2A16 |0= |2Note A Of Length 16
|2B-8 |0= |2Note B Flat Of Length 8
|2C#16. |0= |2Note C Sharp OF Length 16 Extended.
|0If no parameters are specified, the note will default to the natural
note of the global note length.

|2JUMPING UP ONE OCTAVE
|0The |2> |0 command will jump the current octave up by one. This
works in the same way as the |2O |0 command, but it saves space
when just moving from one octave to a higher one. Example :
|2A>B- |0= |2Play A, move up one octave, play B Flat.
|0This command will not work properly unless an octave has been
defined. Otherwise, it modifies the octave default of |23|0.
|8───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

|8───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
|2JUMPING DOWN ONE OCTAVE
|0The |2< |0 command will jump the current octave down by one. This
works in the same way as the |2O |0 command, but it saves space
when just moving from one octave to a lower one. It is the
opposite function of |2>|0. Example :
|2A<B- |0= |2Play A, move down one octave, play B Flat.
|0This command will not work properly unless an octave has been
defined. Otherwise, it modifies the octave default of |23|0.

|2EXTENDING THE NOTE LENGTH
|0Sometimes it is necessary to create a fractional note length. The
|2. |0command allows for this. This command takes the current note
length and adds 1/2 of the note length to it. Many dots in succession
will add 1/2 of the modified note length each time. Example :
|2L4A. |0= |2Note A Played As 1/4 + 1/8 (1/4 Divided By 2).
|2L4A.. |0= |2Note A Played As 1/4 + 1/8 + 3/16 (3/8 Divided By 2).
|0This command may not work properly if a default note length is
not defined. In that case, it will modify the default length of |24|0.

|2MAKING A NOTE SHARP
|2Sharp |0notes are technically half-steps between notes. These half-
steps up are known as |2SHARPS|0. To make a note sharp, (like you see
in a |2key signature |0 or beside the note as a |2# |0 looking
symbol) simply add a |2# |0or a |2+ |0beside the note.
Example :
|2A+ |0= |2A-Sharp.
|2C# |0= |2C-Sharp.
|0Melody Maker will not allow you to use this command on any note that
does not have a sharp normally (as in notes that have no black key
to the right of them on a piano keyboard).

|8───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
|2MAKING A NOTE FLAT
|2Flat |0notes are ALSO half-steps between notes. These half-steps down
are known as |2FLATS|0. To make a note flat, (like you see in a |2key
signature |0 or beside the note as a |2b |0looking symbol) simply add
a |2- |0beside the note. Example :
|2B- |0= |2B-Flat.
|0Melody Maker will not allow you to use this command on any note that
does not have a flat normally (as in notes that have no black key
to the left of them on a piano keyboard).
